FMB Master Builder of the Year 2007 - Midland Region Winner for Energy Efficiency

Energy considerations were a key project factor in this award winning building. To achieve reduced energy consumption, we increased to insulation u-values to the existing walls and roof areas above current regulation requirements, provided a new condensing boiler heating system with zone controls, fitted 24mm argon filled double glazed windows to the north elevation to reduce summer time over heating, incorporated a natural ventilation circulation system and incorporated roof lights to reduce artificial lighting levels.

The project involved the construction of a mezzanine floor with purpose made suspended oak staircase, toilet and kitchen facilities, electrical and data wiring and the inclusion of windows to the side elevation and large glass screen to the front elevation.

The Architect Daniel Hurd designed the building for his own use.
